QuarkNet at the University of Iowa

QuarkNet is an NSF funded partnership between Fermilab and the University of Notre Dame intended to help America's high school students gain hands on experience in advanced physics research.

QuarkNet accomplishes this via a network of QuarkNet centers, including one here at the University of Iowa.

Each summer, 5-10 students from Bettendorf High School spend their time working directly with Professor Onel's research group on CMS related tasks - from calibration measurements for the photodetectors used in CMS, to helping understand how radiation damages important detector components.
